About the role

As the Senior Economic Development Officer for Moorabool Shire Council, you will play a pivotal role in driving the economic growth and sustainability. This position is responsible for supporting the development and implementation of strategic initiatives, in accordance with Council’s Economic Development and Visitor Economy Strategies and other key strategic Council documents, that foster local business growth, attract new investment, and create employment opportunities.

You will work closely with key stakeholders, including local businesses, government agencies, and community organisations, to identify and leverage economic opportunities for Moorabool Shire. This role requires a proactive approach to identifying trends, challenges, and opportunities and developing innovative responses to address them.

Your expertise will be crucial in developing programs that support businesses, industry diversification, place making and activation. Additionally, you will be instrumental in promoting Moorabool Shire as an attractive destination for business and investment, tourism and ensuring economic resilience and long-term prosperity.

Desired Skills and Experience

About you

You will have a tertiary qualification in economics, management, commerce or business management, or have five years or more job-related experience in economics, business or related field.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in economic development, exceptional project management skills, and a proven ability to engage and influence a wide range of stakeholders.
